What a Scare

Well we had a scare to start the year out with. I just picked my husband up from the airport yesterday after he spent a week down in CA with his parents. We got a call that his father was in the hospital. They never did diagnose what the problem was, but they think he had a seizure. Why? They don't know that either. He has already had a couple strokes, so that's what we were worried about.

He's back home, though week still, he is communicating again and doing better. I just spent the time while my husband was away burried deep in my genealogy research. Some nights I was up past midnight since I couldn't sleep with out my hubby home to cuddle with. Isn't it funny how that can affect a person?

New Year Resolutions

I'm not much for New Year Resolutions. To me new year resolutions are short term commitments. Anything that is meant to be long term should be done all year long and need not wait till the new year.

You should strive all year to live a healthy life style and be good to others. Those things should never be a new year resolution. But at the new year is a great way to take the things you already do a create higher goals for yourself.

Like me for instance. I try to get on the treadmill 2-3 days a week, if I'm not in too much pain. Here is a new goal make it 3-4 days a week this year. Maybe I'll loose an extra 20 pounds. Here is another one. I already cut a great deal of the sugars and refined food out of our diet. I don't buy cookies, chips, candy, cereal and all that other junk anymore except on a rare occasion like Halloween. Now here is the new goal. It's time to cut out the diet pepsis, go to whole wheat breads (tried the whole wheat pasta and couldn't quit chock that down), and eat more vegetables than I already do. I started my new business last October. Here is the new goal. It's now time to set up 2-4 parties per month.

To me a new year resolution should be an improvement on the good things you are already doing. A goal higher than the one before. But it should never be something you are going to try for two months and then quit until you make the same resolution next year. You'll never get a handle on your health, grow your business, and better your life that way. I'll you'll manage to do is take one step forward and two steps back that way. So this year take two steps forward and stay there! By the way I am preaching to myself, too. I've got to loose more weight this year.

Good luck with your life style changes this year.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone. May this year find you healthy and happy.

I have to share my son's theory. Money is tight right now just after the holidays. So I went to the gas station with my middle boy tagging along. I put in a little gas and got back in the truck. My son asked "Mom can you go get me something to drink" I told him, "sorry son not this time. I have no money." Then my brilliant son replies with much enthusiasum as if he had just discovered something wonderful, "Well, they take checks!" I couldn't help but laugh. "Yes they do, but if I wrote one right now it would be illegal. You wouldn't want mom to go to jail for writing a bad check would you?" With a sigh he replies, "Well, no."

If only that worked so well. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that we get the loan to build James' shop and then we can pay off a few credit cards while we are at it. But until then I'll just have to keep holding my breath.

Happy New Year all!
